The Emergency Department at this hospital is the 5th largest Department in the West Midlands Region and sees approximately 100,000 new patients per year.  It sees all types of emergencies including children and eyes.

The posts are designed to facilitate consolidation of the extended hours? senior presence in the Department which is proving to be very successful in the support of junior medical staff in all specialties and the management of resuscitation room patients. Although the Department wishes to develop its Paediatric, Medical, Pre-hospital care and Medical Education expertise, the successful candidates will be encouraged to develop their own interests in conjunction with the department?s requirements and the current range of activities. Duties

To assist with the training and supervision of all staff in the Emergency Department.

To participate in the Department?s Audit and Clinical Governance activities and to maintain and develop his/her own clinical abilities and CPD.

To be involved in developing and achieving all aspects of the departmental and Trust policies, standards and contracts as well as the clinical service and educational role.

In addition the joint Adult/Paediatric EM Consultant may have 2 sessions per week working with the Paediatricians to maintain their Paediatric expertise and be the department Paediatric Lead
